Warrior Homes of Collier receives transformative $500K pledge

Legacy gift to boost housing, support services for Collier County veterans

NAPLES, Fla. (July 15, 2024) – A private donor has pledged to contribute a half-million dollars to Warrior Homes of Collier, a transformative planned giving gift that will significantly boost the nonprofit group’s efforts to provide supportive housing for local veterans.

The anonymous, $500,000 legacy gift represents the largest single contribution to date for the 10-year-old nonprofit, said founder and president Dale Mullin, a Vietnam veteran.

“This generous pledge has the potential to dramatically improve the future of the brave men and women of Collier County who served their country with duty and honor,” Mullin said. “Further, it gets us that much closer to our goal of ending veterans’ homelessness in our community.”

Warrior Homes of Collier operates four residences for local veterans: Alpha House, a short-term, transitional residence for those in recovery from substance abuse; Bravo and Charlie Houses, which serve seniors on fixed incomes who receive rent subsidies (known as supportive housing); and Delta House, a supportive housing complex with 10 apartments for up to 20 veterans, both men and women.

Beyond providing a roof over their heads, Warrior Homes of Collier also connects veterans with support services such as mental health counseling and peer support through David Lawrence Centers, as well as educational opportunities, including college scholarships.

Unlike many nonprofits, Warrior Homes of Collier does not receive government funding, instead relying on community patronage and private sector support. Residents pay rent on a sliding scale, but never more than 30% of their income.
