Romanza Interior Design showcases timeless understated sophistication in a new custom estate in Naples’ Aqualane Shores. The two-story luxury residence at 2075 Gordon Dr. E. beautifully integrates a contemporary aesthetic with touches of transitional and traditional style. The result is a harmonious blend that features custom-stained European white oak flooring, elegant marble and porcelain tile finishes, bespoke cabinetry and built-ins, and cove-lit ceilings throughout.
“This home feels stately but comfortable. It’s rich in layers and textures softened by the clean contemporary curves seen in the furnishings,” said Jennifer Stevens, senior design director for Romanza. “It’s an ideal mix of modern appeal with subtle nods to classic design, highlighted by an elegant palette and a variety of polished nickel, gold and champagne accents.”
Located a half block from the Gulf, the five-bedroom showcase estate is built by London Bay Homes. The residence features six full bathrooms, including two in the master suite, a pool bath, a powder room and 6,755 square feet of under-air living space.
Inspired by the home’s coastal contemporary architecture, Stevens’ design highlights sophisticated comfort and livability. Crisp white and warm taupe backgrounds are accented with jewel tones and pops of vibrant colors, including seafoam green, citrine, orange, purple, blush and coral, the latter echoing the royal poinciana at the estate’s entry.
The interior design perfectly balances spacious rooms with generously scaled furniture and textural accents. The living room’s generous size accommodates two contemporary sectional sofas, while a separate cafe, envisioned as an intimate space with two armchairs and a table, is positioned next to the bar and a wall of pocketing sliding glass doors flowing to the expansive covered lanai.
The foyer introduces the estate’s 8-inch-wide taupe-stained wood flooring, installed in a chevron pattern which continues into the adjoining study. Glass art on the foyer’s wall adds hints of smoky blue and grays while the inside of a console is finished in glimmering gold. The study’s nine-foot Italian glass doors and glass walls invite views of the feature wall beyond.
“The design creates unity from outside to inside,” said Stevens. “You walk in and the eye catches all this beautiful glass and the windows overlooking the pool. It makes a strong visual impact.”
The designer envisioned the study as a private space with white backdrops contrasted by rich wood tones, ebony accents, rich green in artwork and accessories and printed drapery fabric in neutrals and shades of gray. Floating uplit white beams in the ceiling, white trim work on walls and a white built-in with storage and illuminated display shelves create architectural dimension. The clean lines of the desk are juxtaposed by the curves of a seafoam-hued lounge chair and opposite a contemporary classic Eames chair.
The nearby powder room is a jewel box with textural seafoam wallcovering in an eye-catching ashlar pattern and an uplit floating Cambria polished quartz vanity featuring a blend of gray, taupe and seafoam. Taupe is repeated in the hexagonal tile flooring and baseboards finished with nickel trim, while stacked glass sconces with gold bases match the sink faucet.
“Powder rooms present an opportunity to be daring but refined,” said Stevens. “With the glass and the slight gloss of the wallpaper, this room has just the right amount of sparkle.”
The linear forms of the living room’s sectionals and custom built-in are balanced by a pair of curved oval coffee tables with a brushed champagne finish, a color also echoed in accent pillows and the ring chandelier above. The asymmetrical built-in features a deep walnut finish with mirrored display shelves framing the TV wall.
The bar in the cafe has white cabinetry, a wine refrigerator and beverage center, and a niche with recessed glass shelves and mirrored backs. The dining room displays accents of champagne and gold in a mirror’s sculptural frame and the canopied lighting fixture above the table set for 10.
“The goal in the kitchen was to create glamour with innovative new looks, ideas and modern touches,” explained Stevens, who introduced intriguing metal-framed glass shelves at the window and a trio of flute-shaped gold pendants above the island. “The polished quartz on the island is gorgeous and has beautiful movement with speckled jewel tones of champagne, bronze and purples.”
The island, which comfortably seats five, features a waterfall countertop and a smoke-gray metallic finish that complements the white-painted surface of perimeter maple cabinetry and a backsplash comprised of three-inch champagne-hued hexagonal tiles above the six-burner Wolf range. The room also offers a Sub-Zero refrigerator while the butler’s pantry, hidden behind doors matching the kitchen’s cabinetry, provides a steam oven, second dishwasher, an icemaker, coffee system and plenty of storage.
The cafe opens to the covered alfresco living room, enhancing entertainment with a TV above a linear fireplace clad in raked limestone and woven and upholstered furnishings. Covered outdoor areas feature tongue-and-groove ceilings and leathered marble pavers. The alfresco dining area has a large table and a fully equipped summer kitchen with textural oak cabinetry and a deco-patterned tile backsplash.
“The lush landscaping, pool, spa and a custom water wall with three waterfalls create a tranquil oasis perfect for relaxing or entertaining,” said Stevens. “It truly feels like a retreat.”
The designer-selected mosaic glass tile waterlines of the pool, spa and spillovers cast a silvery blue for views enjoyed inside and outside. The pool spans multiple levels with reflecting pools, steppingstones and built-in planters. The raked limestone water wall with its three tile-clad waterfall channels adds modern clean lines reflecting the home’s architecture. The pool bath nods to the tropics, featuring a river pebble stone floor and palm leaf-imprinted grasscloth.
“The master suite has an incredible closet and full his-and-her bathrooms, each with showers,” said Stevens. “The bedroom is like a sanctuary, very serene and restful.”
Positioned between the bedroom and bathroom, the open custom-designed closet features glass and wood displays and built-ins with drawers, creating a boutique-inspired experience. The morning kitchen offers extra storage, built-in hampers and refrigerator drawers.
The bedroom features a custom platform bed and an upholstered headboard wall with metallic channels, flanked on each side by silvery silk wallpaper with a modern floral pattern. A soft color palette includes touches of seafoam, cranberry and champagne. Stevens positioned a chaise with a contemporary curving silhouette in the oversized bay window. A French door opens to a private sundeck overlooking the pool.
Both master bathrooms have unpolished moonstone porcelain tile floors. His bathroom features a quarter-sawn white oak vanity with a weathered wood finish and a mosaic white apollo marble floor in the shower. Her bathroom showcases white cabinetry and matching paneling, a furniture-style makeup table with a silvery patina and a walk-in wet area with a tub and shower for a truly spa-like experience, featuring an accent wall of marble waves in sand hues.
“Each of the guest bedrooms have distinct personalities to accommodate a variety of guests and their tastes,” said Steven. “Bathroom finishes correspond to the color palette in each bedroom and range from black-and-white basketweave tile paired with a beautiful black geometric shower floor tile to chevron mosaics, penny tile and a mixed marble pebble stone.”
